What if you are ill or have an emergency on
my wedding day and cannot make it?
Although I have never been in this situation before, I do prepare for it by
having backup makeup artists that would gladly fill in for me. I work part-time
at a cosmetics counter, so I know many good makeup artists in the
department.
How long does a makeup application take
per person?
Generally each person will take about 30 minutes. The bride may take
longer if she hasn't had a pre-wedding trial. Please allow a few minutes in
between applications for clean-up and to disinfect the brushes.
What hygienic precautions do you take
with your makeup?
Hygiene is my first priority with my makeup. All brushes and makeup are
disinfected after every use. Lipstick is never directly applied from the tube.
Eyeliners are sharpened and sterilized between uses. And I use a new
mascara wand (disposable) for every person. My rule of thumb is that I
wouldn't apply anything on anyone that I wouldn't feel safe/hygienic applying
on myself.
Do I have to provide anything for you on
my wedding day?
Besides the remaining balance of the application fees, all you have to
provide is the location for me to come to! I supply all the makeup, brushes
and tools, as well as a makeup chair.
What brands of cosmetics do you use?
I use a little bit of everything (Dior, MAC, Lancome, Benefit), but the line that I
use the most is Estee Lauder. It has always been my favorite line for bridal
makeup, as the foundations are very long-wearing and photo-friendly, and
the eyeshadows are the perfect finish for photos (not too matte, and not too
iridescent).
Should I do anything special for my skin
leading up to the wedding day?
Preparing your skin for your wedding is very important. Many people believe
that makeup will fix everything, but this is very far from the truth. Makeup can
absolutely conceal any little scars, blemishes or dark circles, but there is no
such makeup that can compensate for poorly maintained skin. By this, I
mean skin that isn't cleansed, exfoliated, and moisturized on a regular
basis. As long as you take care of your skin, your makeup will look flawless
(even if your skin isn't perfect). Visit the Bridal Skincare section for tips on
how to prepare your skin for your big day.
Do you recommend wearing false lashes for
my wedding day?
When applied properly they look great on camera! It really depends on your
personality though. If you normally don't wear makeup, wearing lashes might
be going a little overboard. The most important thing about your wedding day
makeup is that you look like yourself. But feel free to purchase lashes (and
lash glue) for your wedding and I would be more than happy to apply them.
I barely wear any makeup on a daily basis
and I really don't want to wear lipstick for
my wedding. Do I have to?
Even though you may not think you look good in lipstick, you absolutely need
have color on your lips for photos to avoid looking drab and washed out. In a
photo, your makeup application loses 1/4 of it's strength, so you need to
wear a little extra than you normally would to look polished on camera. Don't
forget, your face also has to compete with a big white dress...you want your
features to stand out, not disappear!
There are many natural colored lipsticks on the market that won't make you
look overdone. My general rule is to look at a person's natural lip color and
pick something a shade or 2 darker.
